Coconut oil is extracted from the fruit of the coconut palm - the coconut. The best quality is unrefined and unhydrogenated and is also characterized by its intoxicating aroma and delicate coconut flavor, which is lost through refining.
Coconut oil is extremely stable at high temperatures and is therefore suitable for baking, frying and cooking. It typically changes state at a temperature of around 25 °C and below this temperature it changes from a clear and liquid oil to a solid. Its characteristic aroma adds an exotic touch to soups, vegetables, sauces, salads and desserts.
While in Asian cuisine it is used to prepare all kinds of dishes, in European cuisine it is widespread in the preparation of desserts. It can also be a very tasty and aromatic addition to spreads and smoothies.
In cosmetics it is used for skin and hair care, make-up removal and as an ingredient in scrubs, creams, balms and other products.
