Marula(Sclerocarya birrea) is a tree from southern Africa with a broad crown. It is also known as the "elephant tree" or "king of African trees". The fruits of the Marula tree are oval in shape and contain a stone inside.

The precious skin care oil is obtained by crushing the pits of the fruit to get to the kernels, from which the oil is mechanically extracted.
